The Foundation, in 2003, was pleased to present the Centre for Integrated Healing, Dr Kim Chi of the BC Cancer Agency, and Dr Joyce Davison of the Prostate Education & Research Centre VGH with grants that will further research in prostate cancer. The Foundation also received a grant from the WCB Helping Hands to assist in the Foundation's "Reef Knot" Kit project that provides decision making information to men newly diagnosed with prostate cancer.

The
WCB winning corporate team and presenters of a $20,000.00 grant from the WCB
Helping Hands Campaign to the British Columbia Foundation for Prostate Disease.
This grant will go towards funding the Foundation's information "Reef Knot Kit"
project for men newly diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Karen
Cooke, Projects Manager, Centre for Integrated Healing, receiving a $25,000.00
grant from Past Foundation Chair, Don Wilson. The Centre's research project is
an assessment of the value of a holistic complementary
cancer care program for patients diagnosed with cancer incurable by conventional
means
Dr Kim Chi (R) of the British Columbia Cancer Agency,
receiving a $20,000.00 grant from Vice Chair Mac Mckinnon (L). This grant will
assist Dr Chi's research in a Phase II trial of ABT-751 in patients with
metastatic hormone refractory prostate cancer. Men with advanced prostate
cancer have few options and it is hoped that this pilot study will lead to a
full research project and clinical trial.
Dr
Joyce Davison of the Prostate Education & Research Centre, VGH, receiving a
$15,000.00 research grant from Val Strijack, Foundation Chair. The grant is for
a study investigating men's preferences in the communication of prostate cancer
diagnosis.
